Phase Gates are ruin devices found on Seirai Island and Watatsumi Island in Inazuma. Elemental Sight can be used to check the way the opposite door is facing. When the Phase Gate rotates to the corresponding position, its state will also change.
When two Phase Gates are in phase, an energy route is established between them. The player can teleport to different locations after adjusting certain Phase Gates to different directions. This is done by changing the player into a ball of what looks like Electro, then traveling at high speeds from one phase gate to another. Routes are often not straight, and do not touch the ground.
A recent theory video of Ahikai got me thinking about the way our travelers travel. And it actually ressembles the phase transportation a lot.
To begin with Phase is a characteristic of the wave, sound but also light as light is being wave and particle in the same time. Naturally we already connect everything related to Light with our travelers names' meaning Light and the space in which the light travels. In a way Lumine and Aether could also be like wave and particle, the same thing with to observable states.
Phase specifies the location or timing of a point within a wave cycle of a repetitive waveform. Typically, it is the phase difference between sound waves that is relevant, rather than the actual absolute phases of the signals. When two sound waves are added, for example, the difference between the phases of the two waves is important in determining the resulting waveform.
To keep at least one theory short and collected tho so you won't have to read much below there it is: I think that the siblings travel in a phase, like signal, split but also being one. It is probably not exactly the same as the Phase gates traveling but the same in the meaning of two civilizarions discovered the same thing in a different way, in different times. Therefore I think that maybe the siblings traveled from point to point like waves with stable phase but then why and how could they also be stars. They could if they were caught into the fake sky since we accepted that the sky is fake and artificial and contains rocks that contain memories. So if our characters traveled like waves they could have been caught. They are clearly called Outlanders so it's weird to me to assume that they were always part of Teyvat's sky. But they could have been sealed there.
The cut scene with our twin stars speeding down over Liyue seems too recent and it looks like it is happenning way after the Khaenriah's destruction. 500 years ago the landscape seemed shifted a lot. So are the stars even the twins? If one of them was already locked in Teyvat before the other and withnessed the fall of Khaenri'ah? I'd boldly say that maybe we see our twin with their astral twin aka Paimon falling together, 500 years after being imprisoned in the fake sky.
I recently read a lot about the Manichaeism which was also based on Gnosticism and so on. Its profet Mani taught about the dualistic nature of the world and the two basic existence of light and darkness in between which humans are in eternal struggle. Shortly Mani is also a traveler /traveling profet/ who talks about having an 'astral', light twin but best explained as light trapped on earth. Light from beyond human understanding gets trapped in different ways on earth even in fruits therefore even harvesting trees and eating their fruits could be equal to a murder because one can't ever know if there is not light trapped in it. Avoiding the crime for the followers of this religions happens by eating only food brought and prepared by others.
Chinese Manichaeism represents a set of teachings with the purpose of inducing awakening (佛 fó), and it is a dualistic religion that believes in the eternal fight between the principles of good/light and evil/darkness, the former being represented by a God known as Shangdi, Míngzūn 明尊 "Radiant Lord" or Zhēnshén 真神 "True God". Salvation is delivered by the Living Spirit (淨活風 Jìnghuófēng) of God, of whom there have been many manifestations in human form, including Mani (摩尼 Móní)
And again this theory too went into the unknown mess and cannot be short and clean.
So what I am thinking over is if our travelers represent the human and their light twin or if both of them have different light beings attached such as Paimon to our chosen main character. Or both of the travelers are light from beyond trapped in Teyvat i like this theory most so I am rolling with it. So our siblings are manifestations of the true God, the one who'd playing the chess. From Teyvat's perspective they could be this, if we assume tho that everything is science covered with all the fantasy and myths then we could actually be travelers in a better and closer understanding to us. And since the whole concept of the game is to make us feel like travelers I think that we could almost literally get ourselves into the role. Each of us enters the game being less or more experienced in gaming. Our twins are not there by coinsidence they have entered this world with some sort of mission and they were trapped.
And I always think of Dainsleif's line: We will define this world with the power from beyond. Why does Teyvat needs to be defined, described with the power from beyond unless it's implied that we'd reach to see it from dinstance and we'll have our travel from flatland to cosmic. From Gods to Science.
Qianku was an ancient center of Manichaeism and is quite close to Cao'an the last surviving temple and to this day continues to have some remnant traditions on the 1st and 15th days of the lunar month many locals do the following:
.....
People avoid travel on these days, however, this norm is fading
That is a huge stretch but did we travel on a wrong day hahah?
